A reminiscence of sea by the West Lake

What makes Ha Noi special? The Old Quarter and the lakes! Among those five or six major lakes, West Lake is the biggest and probably the most beautiful one.

Xom Vang is one of hundreds of restaurants, big and small, circling the West Lake. The calm water view and the refreshing winds offer the Hanoians a perfect escape from the daily chaos. For young and in-love people, the Lake seems to be the only place in town where their sweet colloquial exchanges are not drowned out. Their affection for the Lake, in fact, has been named: Several spots on the rim of the Lake have been dubbed "Korean Street", "Japanese Bridge", "Hong Kong Port" after some popular TV soap operas.

Then comes the side effect. The over-development has posed its environment to kinds of pollution. The waterway is littered, the air is dust and noise polluted. The Lake's open space seems to be shrinking, as high-rise buildings are mushrooming around it.

These factors were taken into account when our restaurant was developed. We were determined to create a structure that mix well with the surroundings so that our customers can enjoy the air in its original, natural form. Eventually, we came up with the idea of a stilt house, which is similar to the traditional dwelling structure of the Northwest minority people. With exterior walls completely removed, it offers the customers an unobstructed view of the vast water and an abundance of cooling winds. Relax yourself in such an atmosphere while having some seafood dishes that perfume distinctive oceanic aromas, you could easily conjure up a little sea in the heart of the land.

Here, in Ha Noi.
